Inspired Look!

Do you know which character inspired this look? I am guessing - and hoping - that many of you do. Don't judge it too harshly. Remember, it's an INSPIRED BY look, not an imitation. I worked with what I could come up with in under a week. I put on this face and wig for my role as "Commercial Voice" for our annual Sunday School Program. The commercial spots were meant to be somewhat off-the-wall, which meant I could look a bit over-the-top!  :-) I am happy to say that this look had the desired effect, as 95% of the attendees had no clue this was coming.
If you know who inspired my look - or feel you might know - please leave a comment on this post. I am curious to see if there are any other guesses besides the one I took my inspiration from!

  1. Love the look! I know who you are inspired by :)....did you give any "quotes" from the book when you were the commercial voice?? :) I will give the other people reading a chance to take some guesses before I write the answer on here!!!

  2. I thought about it, but no, I didn't use any quotes from the book! I had a couple people at church guess that I was inspired by Lady Gaga, and while her costuming can be quite creative, we know that I was inspired by a BOOK character!!!

    1. Also, this is your cousin Megan since I didn't list my name before.

  4. Thanks, cousin! Someone at church asked me on Sunday, "Do blondes really have more fun?" And I answered, "Well, they at least did yesterday!" :-)

  6. Nope. Nobody guessing yet. Maybe no one wants to be the first to guess out of politeness? But I say, go ahead and guess!!

  7. I know many of you already knew that I was inspired by EFFIE TRINKET of "The Hunger Games." I talked to a number of you through email, by phone or face-to-face. I'd have loved to see your posted comments as you told them to me, for there were some goodies! For example, my favorite book-character-inspiration suggestion was Rita Skeeter from the Harry Potter novels. I fully saw where my friend got that idea, though I'd need fabulous spectacles and probably a green outfit to really pull that look off. :-)

  8. Great work, Ms. Rutabaga! Not having read or seen the movie yet, I was definitely thrown for a loop. But your look is fabulous! I'm a fan of Elizabeth Banks, and in fact, watched her in a darling PSA that I will share with you here: http://www.goredforwomen.org/about-heart-disease/just-a-little-heart-attack/.

Happy holidays to you and yours, and I wish you much reading fun in 2013!

    1. I will definitely think on it. I did have fun doing that, though it coincided with a Sunday School Program that year, which is why I went the "extra mile" in costuming. Any specific character ideas that you have in mind??

Also, if you yourself had interest in taking on a character, I would be happy to share it on my blog!!

You have a book or post-related comment on your mind? Wonderful! Your comments are welcome, but whether you are a regular or guest Rutabaga, I expect you to keep your comments clean and respectable. :-)
